Cycles

A few weeks ago, I had faux locks installed. I had this whole plan of dramatized salt and pepper locs because I have salt and pepper hair and love accentuating that. Note, this was my second attempt at faux locs. About a year before I tried it and they unraveled before I left the lady’s house. This time I got the same exact hair, a slightly different install method and a lower price point. Guess what happened!?! These started unraveling after I left her house. Thing is I didn’t try new hair and I went with a cheaper method but expected a better outcome. What type of twisted expectations were those? Oh, and I expected them to last about 2 months. LOL... In order to get the results, we want we must change some things.

Going in circles, living in toxic cycles will never get us to where we want to be. No matter how many times we try, somethings will not pan out because the things involved simply cannot get the job done. What I am learning is mistakes are ok. They’re actually necessary because looking for the best solution is part of the process, but you must learn from it, then try again or realize if it isn’t for you. We gotta think things through instead of doing for the sake of getting it done. We have to understand ourselves. Discover our why and take a moment to figure out if what we’re doing creates the result we want. With the locs I knew the chances of it not working out were high, but I did it anyways. They unraveled because I requested the front to be the same as the time before. We I saw they untraveled I went back, fixed them and I was actually able to wear them for 2 weeks when the time before I took them out instantly. The change in the install method made a difference. I learned what part worked for me and what part didn’t. I didn’t ignore it or look the other way; I made a mistake and corrected it. Although we cannot change the past, we can be different today and correct our future. No beating yourself up required. Simply respect the lesson and erase the cycles. #SincerelyJamara
