Love the Way You Lie

You ever noticed how music can speak the words of our soul? How we can feel exactly what the artist wants us to feel even if we’ve never experienced it. Similar to a good book, a great album captures you in its story. The older I get the more sensitive to others stories I become. I take fewer things personal; I’ve developed more empathy and sympathy for others, and I am more in tune with myself. It’s kinda scary the honesty in it all but it creates a depth of understanding which is actually liberating. Freedom requires honesty therefore we gotta be real with ourselves, but the reality is we love the way we lie. The way we lie to ourselves, others and the way people lie to us. We love a good story. You know the phrase it is what it is? Living in that and being undisturbed by it instead of blindly buying the dreams people sell just might be the key to happiness. The key to understanding each other, to care about one another because we’ve been where they are.

We've been in the place where we don’t want the world to see us. That place where we pretend our flaws don’t exist. Where insecurities thrive and vulnerability is the enemy. Knowing people are in that space and not judging them but understanding their story instead would be a phenomenon. I pray that we no longer yearn for the familiarity of living lies. I pray it becomes an old flame, we fall in love with a new thang and our albums become raw, heartfelt, soulful classics. #SincerelyJamara
