Public Service Announcement: YOU’RE DOPE and SO NECESSARY.
Did you stroll past a mirror today and forget to twerk? You have to rhythmically chant, “Ayyyeee” for yourself before anyone else will. I must remind myself often because even though my soul is bright, my list of accomplishments is long, and my skin care routine is flourishing, I forget sometimes. Friends encourage me so much now, I’m making it my mission to make sure we all walk in our dopeness. When I say, “Walk in it,” I’m talking about believing it with unwavering certainty. God doesn’t make mediocre beings, and we are created in His image. You’re literally here to make the world better. Folks will have us thinking that it’s conceited to shout, “I’m here, and I love my life!” Everybody doesn’t understand Godfidence, but what I know for sure is being gracious and grateful doesn’t require that you tuck your tail.
I make people better. Sometimes I say it out loud and I’m instantly overcome with imposter syndrome because people may assume I think I’m all that. Well, I *am* all that, and I know you are, too. That’s why I socialize, I enjoy people and love what they contribute to my life. I’m loud about things I love and that is ok. If a person does not like that, then they are not my people. I infect people with happiness and I bring joy to most things I do. I make people better yet every time I type a blog, a column, even writing the book and scripts, I feel like it’s a waste of time. I ask myself, “Why am I doing this when nobody is reading it nor paying attention?” But here you are reading it right now being encouraged.
Often someone thanks me for sharing because they needed my words. Even if it’s one person, they needed it. Share what you have to offer. You are necessary. It may be to add light to one person, one street, one community, and those people whom you light up illuminate the world, but without your spark they can’t and they won’t. Please know that as I’m typing this, I’m speaking to me and to you. Show up and let us experience your authenticity. Upgrade us! It is officially the last quarter of the year. Make your mark. 2020 turned us upside down, and 2021 has run away like a track star. We must set intentions. Every single thing you dream of is possible. YOU CAN DO IT. You will do it! Please always remember whose you are and get it done. It seems scary. I know. All you gotta do is take one small first step. You can take one step at a time, right? Keep doing that because we need you and you’re dope. You got this and God has you. It's up and it's stuck! #SincerelyJam
