Musical Chairs
Remember that game? I observed people playing musical chairs twice recently. One time at a work connection event and the other at my church’s annual cookout. Both times I spectated although I would have loved to play. I opted to not get involved simply because I was hesitant to show my competitiveness. Lol, why!?! When the music stops you either have a seat or you are left there standing. It’s a simple game, what was there to worry about? Was I scared to win or scared to lose? Everything and both actually. How can this work together at the same time?!? The answer is they cannot. Fear is kryptonite for all things super. I took myself out of the game before it even started. I didn’t win because I took away my own opportunity. I didn’t have fun playing, lose gracefully or win graciously. I played it safe by not playing at all but there is nothing safe about that. We lose when we don’t attempt to get a seat. Not trying leaves us stagnant and the point of it all is growth. Sitting on the sidelines watching others triumph in roles we can succeed in is an injustice to ourselves. There is enough room for everybody to win, no need to dim our light because we shine bright. Together our brightness will make the world brighter. We cannot become the best version of ourselves without living. Live. Be Bold. Be Super You. Win some and lose some, either way we learn some things. Be sure to enjoy the music while it plays and Get in The Game. #SincerelyJamara
